Who Are These Czech Courses For?

Our intensive Czech courses are designed for foreigners who want to learn Czech in a structured and practical way.

They may be suitable if you:

  • Are a complete beginner and want to start speaking Czech.

  • Are learning Czech in your home country and want to practise speaking with others in Prague.

  • Live in Prague or are planning to stay in the Czech Republic.

  • Want to improve Czech your vocabulary, grammar and everyday communication skills.

  • Prefer an intensive course rather than spreading lessons over several months.

  • Want to study Czech in a small group in a friendly and supportive atmosphere.

Whether you are just starting to learn Czech or have been studying it for some time, our courses offer a fun and enjoyable way to get started or to improve your Czech and make real progress.

When Do the One-Week Czech Courses Take Place?

During the school year, intensive Czech courses are generally scheduled for the first week of the month, from September to June. A summer course is also offered in July.

How Much Does an Intensive Czech Course Cost?

The standard course fee is:

  • CZK 3,450 per week when booking more than one month in advance.

  • CZK 3,950 per week at the regular rate.

The course fee includes a Czech placement test, Czech lessons and learning materials.

The standard format consists of 20 lessons per week, with each lesson lasting 45 minutes. Courses with a modified schedule may have a different number of lessons and a different fee.

What If There Are Not Enough Students for a Group?

The minimum group size is normally 3 students, and the maximum is 8 students.

If there are not enough students at the same level to form a group, an alternative format may be offered:

  • For 2 students: 11 teaching units.

  • For 1 student: 6 individual lessons.

The available format and applicable fee will be confirmed before the course begins.

Where Do the Czech Courses Take Place?

In-person classes take place in central Prague, near the Staroměstská or Náměstí Republiky metro stations.

The intensive one-week Czech course without an afternoon programme includes:

  • Czech language lessons: structured instruction in grammar, vocabulary and practical communication.

What Will Complete Beginners Learn?

The beginner course introduces the essential language skills needed for simple everyday communication.

1. Basic Czech Phrases and Pronunciation

Learn common expressions such as Kdo je to? (Who is it?), Co je to? (What is it?), Kde je to? (Where is it?), Děkuju (Thank you) and Prosím (Please/You're welcome).

2. Introductions and First Conversations

Practise introducing yourself, greeting people and asking basic questions. Learn phrases such as Těší mě (Nice to meet you) and Jak se máte? (How are you?), together with vocabulary for professions and nationalities.

You will also begin using the verbs být (to be) and mít (to have).

3. Numbers and Telling the Time

Learn to ask and answer questions such as Kolik je hodin? (What time is it?) and V kolik hodin…? (At what time…?). Practise numbers and useful verbs, including rozumět (to understand) and vědět (to know).

4. Describing Places and Locations

Learn to describe where things are using words such as vpředu (in front), vzadu (at the back), vlevo (on the left), vpravo (on the right) and uprostřed (in the middle).

You will also be introduced to grammatical gender and verbs such as pracovat (to work) and studovat (to study).

5. Shopping and Everyday Situations

Practise simple shopping conversations and learn vocabulary related to food, drinks, fruit, vegetables and colours. You will also be introduced to the accusative case and practise verbs such as nakupovat (to shop) and mít (to have).
